Snarky Puppy, the genre-defying super-band, is a lot like Dallas, city of its birth. On Empire Central the eclectic 19-piece electric ensemble is big and bold, chill and laid back, rooted in its native culture while reaching outward, forward-bound. With 16 new compositions including the song “Take It!” -- regrettably, the last recorded performance of ‘80s funk star Bernard Wright, who Snarky ringleader Michael League identifies as a Godfather-like figure – the group looks fondly at where it’s come from, confident in the polished power from which its members continue to build the unique Snarky Puppy sound.

That sound now rises like a skyscraper from a 21st century orchestra comprising three guitarists, at least four keyboardists, two brass, two reeds, a violinist, multiple percussionists and drummers and the accomplished yet modest League keeping it all together with his bass. That lineup was unimaginable when ten friends enrolled in the jazz program of University of North Texas (aka North Texas State) in Denton, 30 miles from Dallas, first convened in 2004. But as Snarky Puppy’s core members moved to the city and were embraced by the region’s Black churches and stalwarts of that community’s music, they matured.

GODTET is the brainchild of Australian Instrumentalist and producer Godriguez. Praised for his production on ‘The Great Mixtape’ for Sampa the Great. GODTET see’s Godriguez stepping back into the live format of production with his band plus Simon Mavin (Hiatus Kaiyote) & Ziggy Zeitgeist (30/70).After releasing the self-titled debut in late 2017 GODTET have quickly become a staple within the emerging Australian Jazz & Instrumental scene with adulation streaming in from all parts of the globe. House Shoes called it his “album of the year” whilst Gilles Peterson made an exception in his Melbourne focused WorldWide FM show playing the Sydney outfits music.Whilst in Melbourne playing shows launching the first album, GODTET decided to record the next album “II”, the bulk of which was laid down over one day and was rooted deeply in improvisation, just like the first record.
Meditations is GODTET diving into our own minds, journeying together, by ourselves to where we wanted at the time to go.. There was a definite sense of wanting to abandon (albeit all unspoken) any of GODTET’s previous vibes and any other musical contexts we all often exist in. It is definitely a world where we, the musicians, can create a starting point and see where our minds take us. We wait either for ourselves or each other to see where we’d like to journey (or not journey) at all and be happy to sit put in one place for a while. The Meditations are almost a reaction; A protest? - To having to do the normal thing as musicians we’re expected to do (Make a big good exciting thing now!) If anything it's a blueprint for the future of the GODTET “sound”, it is to be unexpected. “Expect the unexpected” is quite the cliche yet it’s probably the most fitting for what I foresee the GODTET future as sounding. Unbound by any expectations or contexts or having to repeatedly play music in any certain way - it feels almost like a manifestation of our freedom and personal agent to not be beholden to anything as musicians. Meditations is the most open statement and platform GODTET has produced to date. Wiping the slate clean, this erasure allows us infinite possibilities.. Anywhere and everywhere to go from here... To be definable or restricted is the antithesis of what GODTET is about. GODTET PLAYS FOR ITSELF. Our own curiosity, pleasure, introspection, play, ourselves.
The Psychedelic Freaks is a new alias of Horatio Luna's. Influenced by the genius of Fela Kuti, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Dave Holland, Paul Jackson, Carol Kaye, Jimmy Hendrix, James Brown, and Alice Coltrane.
PRESSED ON OPAQUE YELLOW COLORED VINYL IN A GATEFOLD JACKET WITH JAPANESE STYLIZED INSERT AND DELUXE OBI STRIPSony Legacy Recordings X Get On Down Miles Davis 1980s Reissue Series Remastered from the original analog tapes The first live Miles Davis electric band release since the very dark and heavy “Dark Magus” (1977). This album is edited together from live concerts at Boston’s Kix Club. The 2xLP set from 1982 contains reimagined versions of songs from “The Man With the Horn” (1981), tunes from the pre-electric Gil Evans collaboration “Porgy and Bess” (1959), and a dedication to the Boston venue called “Kix”. While this is one of the first live Miles Davis performances in over half a decade it certainly did not show!!! This album features R&B legend Marcus Miller on bass, Mike Stern on guitar, Bill Evans on saxophone, Mino Cinelu on percussion, and electric band alumni Al Foster on drums. Produced and edited by long time Miles collaborator Teo Macero.
