The importance of King Tubby's studio to the history of recorded sound is beyond measure and its all encompassing influence is a lasting monument to the resolute resourcefulness of Jamaica's musical pioneers. The dubs here were originally assembled by the Blood & Fire label for three bestselling but long deleted 1990s compilations that are now much sought after. Freshly sequenced and re-mastered, "Dubbing At King Tubby's" showcases the mixing skills of King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Scientist, Phillip Smart and Pat Kelly on a drum and bass heavy selection of ground-breaking Bunny Lee dubs.
Right On Time - Trojan Rock Steady is the 2nd part of the exclusive Music On Vinyl's Trojan compilation series, which celebrates the best works from the legendary reggae label Trojan Records. It was compiled by Laurence Cane-Honeysett, who also wrote the linernotes.
Johnny Clarke ruled the dancehall in the mid '70s, using the clever "Flyers Rhythms" that gave some of his tunes an edge with the sound systems. But his voice was always bigger than this and his versatility to sing a wide range of vocal styles has seen him cut through the decades as one of reggae's best voices. Produced by Bunny Lee, mixed at King Tubby's studio, an absolute reggae / roots classic.
Disco Reggae Rockers features wicked reggae disco versions of funk, soul and disco classics! This new album follows on from Soul Jazz Records' earlier highly successful 'Hustle: Disco Reggae.' and features reggae covers of classic songs by Earth, Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Candi Staton, Curtis Mayfield and more as performed by Derrick Harriott, Devon Russell, Hortense Ellis, Glen Adams, Dave Barker and others.
Two highly addictive 90’s Dancehall productions by Steely & Clevie combining strenghts here with some of Jamaica’s most prolific vocal artists - Pam Hall and Chevelle Franklyn. Originally created for a Japanese CD compilation with Ragga cover versions, they are now made available for the first time on a loud 12”, each track spread over an entire side.
