To-the-point techno of Modernism with four distinctive cuts. The open is a dubbed-out jam with Detroit-style pads and raw future soul. 'Formless 0.1' (Havantepe version) has a bit more swing and bigger wooden hits to really lock you in. 'Formless 0.2' carries on in the same lovely analogue vibe with well crafted drums and majestic pads bringing the beauty. Last of all, the frosty dub chords of 'Formless 0.3' ripple out in all directions to melt mind, body and soul.

On its initial release back in 1995, this DJ Spen co-production was something of an underground club hit, with labels around the world releasing their own licensed versions. This Groovin' Records reissue edition of 'Everybody Be Somebody' effectively showcases the most in-demand versions. Side A boasts the original US extended version - a nine-minute fusion of crunchy machine drums, dirty bass, heady band percussion, lo-fi disco guitar licks and sweet female vocals. Over on the flip you'll find two European revisions from Mousse T's Peppermint Jam crew: his own 'Back In The Days Mix', which gives it a subtle disco flavour, more fully-featured instrumentation and some lovely electronic lead lines, and the sleazy, acid-flecked, hip-house inspired 'Peppermint Jam Extended Mix'.
LA's Benedek delivers a killer old school house lp influenced by 78th Street era Beltram, Beat Club, latin freestyle dubs and WBMX drum tracks. This is street beat at it's finest and Benedek executes with precision. Classy and catchy, with a knack for melody yet still grimey as hell and full of beats you can mix. Primetime "86 rush hour show material brought to life in the present tense, carrying on with tradition while flipping it upside down. Highly recommended!
