The Doors The Soft Parade Orchestral Rock Reissue Vinyl Record Album Music 50th Anniversary

The Doors’ fourth studio album, The Soft Parade, became the band’s fourth straight Top Ten album when it was released 50 years ago today on July 18, 1969. Despite featuring one of the group’s biggest hits – “Touch Me” – it remains the most-polarizing record of The Doors’ career thanks to the brass and string arrangements that embellish several tracks.

Up next from Mood Hut we have the debut LP from Local Artist aka Ian Wyatt. Previously known for his underground party starters Dancer and Touch Tone. This time Ian takes us further towards the intimate end of the radio dial, recording music as a way of processing the emotions of watching his father and partner battle cancer pre-pandemic. Themes of love, loss and life emerge in a moody brew to help you through. In Local Artist’s world, the sun is setting on our old selves. Tonight is a slow ritual of letting go to gradually make room for the new. We’ve been up all night. It’s almost dawn and beyond the horizon, we can trust the light that morning brings.
Brian Ellis returns with his most personal and well-rounded LP yet, “Deep Clues”, an 8-track project seamlessly encapsulating elements of funk, soul, adult-oriented rock (AOR), boogie, and electro.
Leading up to this 1988 release, The Church were at a low point in their career. Their label dropped them after poor reception to their previous album, Heyday, guitarist Marty Willson-Piper had quit the band due to growing tension, and the band was stuck in Los Angeles, where they felt out of place and homesick for Sydney. Miraculously, the band was able to make the best out of a bad situation and channel these frustrations back into the music. Whereas Heyday was littered in overproduced orchestral arrangements, Starfish is much more stripped back, leaving more room in the mix for their reverberant, jangle-y guitars and haunting lyricism. The album features their biggest hit, "Under the Milky Way" alongside the psychedelic earworm “Reptile,” both of which became popular in the US. Their newfound success led to an extensive North American tour with Peter Murphy of Bauhaus and Tom Verlaine of Television supporting. 10 tracks on 180g black vinyl.
XXXTENTACION is a name that needs no introduction. A true artist who was tragically slain earlier this year – XXXTENTACION left an indelible mark on culture and music in his all too brief 20 years on this planet. His catalog will go on to live forever, and he left one final piece of music for the world with Skins. The album comes in at a short, but sweet 10 tracks with songs that delve into XXXTENTACION's deep and complex mind, and soul.
